I am extremely proud to present this whole new CP omni antenna design from TrueRC Canada. There is always more or less R&D work being done in the background at TrueRC Canada. This time, a big step ahead has been achieved. What’s so new about this antenna? Well, to begin, it got an extremely high axial ratio, the highest we ever measured on a CP antenna. Secondly, it has no lobes to get caught in things, bend and tangle up, making it more durable and practical. Last but not the least, it occupy less than one tenth of the volume used by a skew planar wheel (also known as clover-leaf). It is, by far, the most compact CP omnidirectional antenna ever made. We named it: “The singularity”.

The 1258/1280MHz model is 47mm in diameter, 23mm high. It can be stem fed or side fed for flat surface mounting.

The singularity 1258/1280MHz is available to purchase now for 29.99US$ Other frequencies (2.4GHz and 3.3GHz) will follow. The 5.8GHz model is sold trough a partnership with Lumenier under the name “Axii”.

Q&A:

-What’s the advantage over a clover-leaf?

“The size! no more you have to deal with huge antennas, the 1280MHz model is the same size as some 5.8GHz model from other brand.”

-Being so small, can I put it inside my model?

“Yes! Just be sure it’s not near any wiring, battery or other metallic/conductive object”

-I want to use the side fed model, is there a preferred place on the wing/fuse to place it?

“As long as only foam is underneath the antenna, it is fine. Shine a flashlight trough your wing to find carbon spars or wiring that will reduce antenna performances if directly underneath. You can use double side tape to fix your antenna over or under the wing”

-Will you make it for 900MHz?

“Developing the antenna for each band take a considerable amount of time and resources (because we actually test our antenna properly), so no plan for 900MHz. Unless someone reach us for a large purchase, it just don’t seem to be worth it at this point.”

-Will you make one for 5.8GHz?

“Yes, We produce and quality check their critical components here in Canada and Lumenier take care of assembly under our strict specifications. Lumenier distribute the antenna worldwide under the name “axii”, except in Canada where TrueRC Canada inc. has exclusive distributorship of the product.”

  2. What is the apporximate time frame for the 2.4 Version? Also when will the side fed 1.2 be available? I tried the current one and it works well and the side fed will be nice to bury on the foam of a wing.

    • At these freq. SWR raise to 20:1 meaning that over 95% of the Vtx’s power is reflected back.

      • Woow, is this intentional? It seems that at 5.8ghz your antennas are pretty wideband…. from 5.6-5.9 full 300mhz… Just to exclude all misunderstanding: at 1180 and 1200mhz swr is 20:1? Or maybe its a typo/reado? Sorry for double asking.

      • Design at 1280 is different, more compact, trade-off is bandwidth. You read right 20:1.
        HOWEVER, the design let tuning possible.

      • It is done while assembling the cover, unfortunately cannot be done by the end user as it need specialized equipment. Contact us and we can provide you with a custom tuned singularity antenna.

    • Hi Tom, this antenna is for 1.3GHz Vtx and rx. For 5.8GHz look at the axii.

  8. Thinking of buying these for a ground based rc car and fatshark Goggles rx ( both vtx and rx) because its small size and that it should be more durable compared to the other CP 1.3ghz antennas.
    As off today I only got the fatshark hd3 Googles (without rx module) and rmrc -520 cam. This is what am thinking of putting together.
    – Fat Shark Dominator 1.3GHz Receiver Module
    – Fatshark – 1G3 8ch 250mW TX – International Only
    – 2#TrueRC Singularity 1.3GHz ( LHCP OR RHCP)
    – Low Pass Filter for 1.3GHz Antennas

    Will this work ok? How many mm from my 2.4ghz car receiver/ antenna do I need to Mount this vtx With Your antenna without having interference/ noticeable range loss on the 2.4 rc car? After what Ive read the low pass filter does a good job. And the fatshark vtx is in the mid/low Power range of 250mw which should help With interference compared to the higher output vtx out there.
    The car is a 1/8 Vorza buggy/2.4ghz radio. The best would be replaceing the back wing With a mounting plate for vtx/antenna in terms of distance? Or is it sufficient enough With a back body Mount?
    I also got two 2.4ghz radio longer cars( easier to mount antenna longer away) 1/7 xo1 and 1/6 audi r8 but I was hoping to get it to work With my favorite 1/8 rc car.

    Long question but I hope you can help me out here.

    • Harald, I think with the low pass filter it’ll be ok given you manage 15-20cm. All wires exiting the VTX should have few turns around a ferite as well.

  9. Hello, I’m building a CTH Deep Reaper wing and I wanted to put LED light strips on the bottom on the leading and rear edges of the wing. If I were to bury the singularity into the foam in the middle toward the wingtip, and the LED strips were about an inch and a half from the antenna in front and behind, do you think I’d risk reducing my signal ? How much distance should I allow as a best practice ?

    • That’s pretty close. I would try for 3″ of clearance around the antenna. The LED string may or may not interfere at 1.5″, only trying will tell.

      • Given the singularity has the best axial ratio I would say yes, but 1.3GHz is not as critical as 5.8. If you already have a good SPW, use it until hangar rash damage it and get a singularity, you’ll never look back.

  13. I took the cover off one of your antennas because I just couldn’t contain my curiosity. Did I irreparably damage the antenna? Can I just glue the cover back on? Wonderful design.

    • Re-installing the cover in a different way, with a different amount of glue will de-tuned the antenna. Probably not enough to significantly reduce your range however.

  14. Is it ok to mount the antenna flush with the surface (epp wing) or is it better to mount it on top of the foam. Trying to eliminate as much drag as possible

  17. Just received my Singularity’s here in the UK, cannot wait to bury them in the wings of my ritewing mini Drak and HC44, and see what they will do! So much nicer form factor than the ‘normal’ CP 1.3 aerials.

  18. This is cool since I run all my race planes on 1258. Would I replace my skyhunter antenna with this, probably not. When compared to all the drag of the pan, and tilt, and things. I don’t think this antenna would benefit performance in any noticeable way

  19. If I am reading correctly, this antenna is pretty narrow band – frequency specs 1258-1280MHz. I assume this wouldn’t work for lower frequencies such as – 1080-1200mHz as with some other cloverleafs on the market? Or would I expect a huge amount of loss?

  20. so the antenna can cover 1360mhz as well? as from specs it show Frequency: 1258-1280MHz how much loss I’m going to expect if used on the higher 1.3ghz ?
